This blended course introduces first-year students to the core principles of academic writing and AI literacy needed for their university studies. Students learn how to develop and organize an academic argument, use appropriate academic language, work with and evaluate sources, integrate source material into their own writing, and use APA citation and referencing. At the same time, they develop an understanding of how generative AI works and learn to use it critically, effectively, and responsibly to support their learning, research, and writing. Particular attention is given to evaluating AI-generated content, maintaining authorship, and making informed decisions about when and how to use AI in academic work. Online modules are complemented by face-to-face sessions in which students apply and consolidate what they have learned
