The course KAP/GLDG is focused on the problems of globalization in contemporary world. Initially, it will be aimed at defining the phenomenon and at tackling advantages and disadvantages of it. Subsequently, it will reveal paradigms and concepts of globalization on a wider scale from "McDonaldization" (George Ritzer) over the end of history (Francis Fukuyama) to Network society (Manuel Castells). In a following part, the course will be focused more in a detailed way on political, economic, technological, media and environmental dimension of globalization. In relation to these relevant phenomenons, the course will be strictly focused on the views from neomarxist, liberal and conservative positions. Analogously, it will pay attention to introduce optimistic, pesimistic and sceptical positions to these segments of globalization. Next, the course will be focused on case studies of the most relevant countries - the USA, China, India and Russia and it will explore these countries for their role in global affairs in terms of political and economic strategies including their "soft" powers.
