Assignment 7: Integrating language skills

Task 1: Read Harmer's chapter on integrating language skills (pp. 265-278). Note down any helpful information. Create a graphic organizer summarizing the key information. (Look up graphic organizers if you arent sure what they are).

Task 2: Explore a sample unit from Impact and create a unit map - note down how sections focusing on skills and language structures are ordered throughout the unit. Distinguish between activities/sections building skills and activities involving skills (e.g. a speaking activity versus a section focusing on building speaking skills). The interest here lies in building skills and knowledge rather than a means to practice for example spelling. Your map doesn't have to be very detailed. The purpose of the activity is to see how the unit is built up.
