Forum: Future Careers
Unit 4 deals with looking for a job and job-related issues. The problem is that the current rapid pace of our technological development significantly influences the job market. Some positions are no longer necessary, while some others have emerged. As a result, teachers have hard time preparing students for their future careers because they need to prepare them for working with technologies and systems that have not yet been invented. In this context, there is one important question: What are the top job-related skills current and future employers are looking for? Watch the video, which discusses this topic. Do you agree with the ideas presented there? Give your opinion in this forum. Answer at least two of the following questions and respond to at least one contribution of a fellow student.
1) What are the top job-related skills current and future employers are looking for? Do you agree with the video you watched?
2) What are your plans for the future? What would you like to do after you graduate from this university/after you finish your Bachelor's/Master's degree in Electrical Engineering? Would you like to work for a company or to start your own business? Which branch of engineering would you like to be involved in?
3) What do you imagine if I say "an ideal job"? Describe one day at that ideal work.
4) What do you think of the rate of unemployment in the Czech Republic? As future professional engineers, what are your prospects?
5) What would you do if you were unemployed? Would you place an advertisement with a job agency or would you just respond to job offers?
