Course Content
The course is based on the coursebook titled Technical English 3 by David Bonamy (Pearson Longman, 2011) and is organized in the same way, covering units 7 to 10. However, as some of the coursebook topics do not deal with electrical issues, a great portion of the book material has been replaced with electrical engineering content. For example, the course contains one extra unit on the topic of electrical circuits. Even the classroom teachers running the AEL4 course are encouraged to use this modified material of this online course during their face-to-face classes if needed. In the future, some other technical topics will be added, in order to reflect the technology progress in the field of electrical engineering.
This online course is also supplemented with extra listening and reading comprehension tasks, grammar and vocabulary exercises and explanatory sections presenting new vocabulary and grammar points. In addition, the course will give you an opportunity to express your opinion on a variety of technical topics, both in speaking and writing. We hope you will enjoy the time spent here while improving your language skills.
Acknowledgments
I would like to thank my colleagues Joan DeForeest, M.A. for proofreading the entire course material, and Varvara Golovatina, Ph.D. for uploading the majority of the material into the Moodle learning management system. Were it not be for their invaluable help, this course would not be possible.
