Intervention procedures for HKD / ADHD

Intervention approaches: the most effective combination of psychotherapeutic and pharmacotherapeutic methods

  • interventional (psychotherapeutic and sociotherapeutic) help focused on the overall personality
  • interventional (psychotherapeutic, special pedagogical) help focused on individual features of the disorder, eg attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, etc.
  • special therapeutic procedures - pharmacotherapy, biofeedback, diets, VTI, etc.

Intervention focused on the whole personality

  • holistic approaches that optimize the whole personality include the family
  • Improving school performance is a secondary product
  • procedures require special training
  • relaxation procedures dominate
  • examples:
    •   autogenous training
    •   yoga exercises

Intervention focused on individual features of the disorder

  • can be implemented at a professional workplace, at school or in the family
  • important selection of the most severe symptoms
  • often symptoms = deficits causing SLD
  • eg: attention exercises - worksheets
    • perception exercises (visual, auditory ...)
    • memory exercises
    • social integration exercises ....

Special therapeutic procedures

  • pharmacotherapy - psychostimulants, such as Ritalin (increases the amount of dopamine in
  • frontal lobes) “paradoxical reaction”, successful in 70-90% of children
  • antidepressants (increase noradrenaline concentrations)
  • neuroleptics (antipsychotics)
  • physiotherapy: focus on primary and transient reflexes
  • biofeedback
  • diet?
