Tapescript - Unit One - Let me introduce myself

Host: Good morning. I would like to welcome you to our first Air Bus transnational meeting here in Greece. My name is Nick Panagos and I work as a Project Manager at the TopDesign Company, which is based here in Athens. At our company, I´m responsible for the entire design of a project, from the initial idea to final production. Before we begin our discussion, I would like to ask you to introduce yourselves and tell us a little bit about your work. Pavel, perhaps you’d like to start.

Pavel: Good morning everyone. My name is Pavel Novák and I work for Industrial Materials International. It is a Finnish company but I work for a division which focuses on research into aeronautical alloys. It is based in the Czech Republic. I work as a researcher and I am responsible for improving the properties of materials used in aeronautical engineering.

Host: How long have you been with Industrial Materials, Pavel?

Pavel: Three years.

Host: Thank you for your introduction, Pavel. And now over to Hana.

Hana: Hello, everyone. My name is Hana Schneider and I work as a design engineer for Design Labs2 in Berlin, Germany. I have been working for Design Labs for five years now. Our company designs and produces plane interiors. As a design engineer, I am responsible for a team of designers and together we create new designs for our customers’ plane interiors or update our old products. 

Host: Thank you Hana, José. Could you continue, please?

José: Hi, everyone. My name is José Carrera. I´m from Spain, Madrid. I have been working for a company called TopDiesel for two years. Our company produces jet engines for planes for a majority of airplane manufacturers. I work as an installation engineer. My responsibility is to go to our customers premises to install the jet engines produced by our company.

Host: Thank you for your introduction, José. Do you have to travel a lot?

José: Oh yes, I do. My job involves a lot of travelling. Sometimes I have to stay and look after the installation for several months.
