Prof. Dr. Jan van Dijk (University of Twente) gave a lecture as part of the ZeMKI Research Seminar on May 26, 2021. He discussed his book The Digital Divide (2020). The core statement is that digital inequality reinforces existing social inequality. To show this he will talk about four phases of access according to Resources and Appropriation Theory: Motivation, Physical Access, Digital Skills and Usage leading to different Outcomes of digital media use.
