INTERPERSONAL CONFLICTS
Conflicts of opinion and personal conflict
First, it is important to distinguish between contradiction of opinion and personal conflict.
Conflicts of opinion can be resolved by effective
argumentation, but into a has entered emotions. This loses rational view.
- In personal conflict, a person is driven by an effort to face the other person and not a problem.
- If a disagreement has grown into a personal conflict, it will be much more difficult to resolve.
Basic sources of conflicts
- Career conflicts (different career paths, different experiences)
- Communication conflicts (most common)
- Role conflicts (no partner role defined)
- Competitive conflicts (only one can win)
Conflict resolution strategies
Each conflict resolution has two consequences:
- the degree of self - interest and
- the degree of destruction of a good relationship.
Adaptive style - non-assertive, accommodating to the other side with insufficient regard for self-interests.
Confrontational style - aggressive and non-cooperative, pursuing only one's own interests)
Escape style - non-assertive and non-cooperative, driven primarily by an effort to avoid a conflict situation.
Compromise style - medium level of self-assertion and cooperation, is based on the principle of "give and take".
Cooperative style - respecting the interests of each other and the other side and at the same time sufficiently assertive.
