Welcome
Welcome to Citizen Participation in Post-Conflict Urban Contexts!
In this short, two-hour online micro-course, you will explore what meaningful citizen participation looks like in complex and divided urban contexts, with a particular focus on Bosnia and Herzegovina. Using Arnstein’s Ladder of Participation, real-life cases, ethical dilemmas and guided reflection, you will learn to recognise the difference between token participation and genuine empowerment, understand power dynamics, and reflect on your own role and responsibilities as a facilitator.
The course is designed for undergraduate and graduate students from any discipline, as well as early-career professionals and civil society practitioners interested in participation, urban development and post-conflict contexts. No previous knowledge is required.
The course is fully online, asynchronous and flexible, so you can complete it at your own pace.
We hope you enjoy the course and that it inspires you to think critically about how participation can become more inclusive, ethical and genuinely empowering. Welcome!
