EUPeace is the European University for Peace, Justice, and Inclusive Societies. It is only too obvious that these values are fragile and heavily contested in Europe and all over the world. Our mission is to help future generations of citizens and policy-makers and provide them with the skills, knowledge, and experience to cultivate Peace, Justice, and Inclusive Societies. In order to achieve this, EUPeace focuses on a fruitful societal dialogue, reflecting the third mission of universities to engage with and contribute to society. By offering flexible and elective Soft Skill micro-courses on a wide range of topics, from critical thinking and intercultural awareness to problem-solving and mediation, EUPeace invests in capacities that transcend disciplinary boundaries. These Soft Skill courses for students, staff, and beyond, are designed to strengthen the competences needed for inclusive, ethical, and peace-oriented community engagement.

Course content
This course explores inclusion as a dynamic process shaped by perception, interpretation, communication and contextual conditions.
Through a sequence of interactive topics, participants will recognise that diversity is not always visible, reflect on how assumptions influence interaction, explore inclusive communication, analyse conditions that affect participation, and apply these insights in real-life contexts.
The course emphasises awareness, reflection and small practical actions that can contribute to more inclusive everyday practices.
Learning pathway
The Moodle campus is structured into three main sections: Introduction, Content and Conclusion.
The Content section is organised into five modules or topics that should be followed in sequence, as each builds on the previous one.
Topic 1: introduces the idea that diversity is not always visible.
Topic 2: focuses on how we interpret what we see and how assumptions shape our understanding.
Topic 3: explores how communication can support or limit inclusion.
Topic 4: examines how participation depends on contextual conditions.
Topic 5: invites participants to apply what they have learned through a small real-life action.
Each topic includes core content and interactive activities, some of them with immediate feedback. These activities are compulsory and designed to support progressive learning.
Optional materials are clearly marked and can be explored if participants wish to deepen their understanding.
Upon completing all required activities, participants can review their results and download their certificate in the final section.

Topic 1. Video Story: Diversity from a broad point of view.
Section overview
In this topic, participants explore how diversity is not always visible at first glance. Through a visual narrative, they are invited to look more carefully at everyday situations and to recognise that what appears simple or uniform may involve very different experiences and forms of participation.
Content input
Video story composed of a sequence of images in which meaning changes as attention is directed to specific details.
Interaction
Participants respond to reflective questions embedded in each scene and receive immediate feedback that encourages reinterpretation and complete a questionarie.
Conclusion
Diversity is often not immediately apparent. Looking more closely helps reveal differences in experiences, perspectives and ways of participating.
Extra materials
Optional readings and resources on inclusion, perception and accessibility: an academic article, a short story /tale, a news item, and an animated short film.
Topic 2. Self-test. Immediate Feedback. Recognising bias and prejudices.
Section overview
This topic focuses on how participants interpret what they see and how assumptions influence their understanding of others.
Content input
Short introductory content on interpretation and unconscious assumptions.
Interaction
Self-test based on six everyday scenarios with multiple possible responses and immediate explanatory feedback.
Conclusion
Interpretations are often automatic and based on partial information. Becoming aware of them helps create space for more inclusive understanding.
Extra materials
There is a reading that expands on the reflective conclusion, which participants must access before moving on to the next module.
Topic 3. Infographic & gamified quiz: Empathetic and inclusive/welcoming communication.
Section overview
This topic explores how communication shapes inclusion and participation.
If I pay closer attention and make an effort to judge less, how can I communicate in a way that helps the other person feel genuinely included?
Content input
Interactive infographic presenting three dimensions: language, interaction and environment.
Interaction
Gamified quiz based on everyday communication situations in which participants identify whether interactions may be inclusive or potentially excluding.
Conclusion
Inclusive communication is not about using perfect words, but about creating conditions in which more people can take part.
Extra materials
Optional resources on empathetic communication, clarity and accessibility: short university article; practical guide; short video.
Topic 4. Short concept & interactive checklist: Accesibility and Inclusion.
Section overview
This topic examines what makes participation possible (or difficult) in a given situation: how participation depends not only on individuals, but also on the conditions in which it takes place. The aim is recognise how environments, tools and implicit norms can create barriers or enable inclusion.
Content input
Short conceptual framework introducing three key ideas: not everything is visible, access is uneven, and conditions matter.
Interaction
Interactive checklist applied to everyday situations in which participants identify factors that may facilitate or limit participation.
Conclusion
Inclusion depends on how environments, tools and situations are organised, not only on individual behaviour.
Extra materials
Not included.
Topic 5. Challenge-Based-Learning: Inclusive action and community engagement. From awarness to practice
Section overview
In this final topic, participants apply what they have learned by carrying out a small action in their own context. The following question arises: What could you change in your own community context to make participation more accessible?
Content input
Introduction to challenge-based learning and the idea of small, meaningful actions.
Interaction
Participants choose a micro-challenge, implement it in their own context, and reflect on what they did, what changed and what they observed.
Conclusion
Inclusion is built through everyday actions. Small changes can have a meaningful impact on participation.
Extra materials
Not included.
