Hello and welcome!

My name is Ivona Čarapina Zovko, and I am delighted to welcome you to this EUPeace Soft Skills micro-course on Problem Solving for Employability.

Employability is more than preparing for a job application or making career decisions. It also involves recognising your competences, working effectively with others, adapting to changing circumstances, identifying available resources, and responding constructively to complex real-life challenges.

These skills are particularly important in community engagement, where students, professionals, institutions, and community stakeholders often work together across different perspectives, needs, and expectations. Such situations may involve limited resources, uncertainty, disagreement, or the need to adapt plans as circumstances change.

Throughout this course, you will explore practical strategies for analysing challenging situations, recognising your own strengths and transferable competences, communicating effectively with others, identifying social and psychological resources, and developing resilience and adaptability.

You will apply these skills to situations related to both employability and community engagement, with an emphasis on collaboration, informed decision-making, and constructive problem solving.

The course is fully asynchronous and self-paced. You are encouraged to engage actively with the short activities, reflect on your own experiences, compare your responses with the model examples provided, and consider how the skills developed in this course can be applied in your academic, professional, and community contexts.

I wish you an enjoyable and valuable learning experience!
