This week you will get familiar with the basics of lesson planning.

Lesson Planning

Watch Jack Richards' video on intro to lesson planning:

Read:

  • Ur: Lesson – pp. 14-27
  • Scrivener: Planning lessons and courses – pp. 123-155

Tasks:

  • Both readings provide practical advice on planning language lessons. As you read, take notes of useful tips for planning – think of it as your checklist for the time when you plan your classes during your teaching practice/actual teaching. The length of the assignment depends on you and your needs. The tips should be very specific and practical. Dont write tips like - Dont forget to have a lesson plan. A tip like this - Think of an organisation form for each activity - is much more guiding and better. :-)
  • In one paragraph discuss how the contents of the two readings correlate with or relate to the readings about effective language lessons and activities.
