Communication is not only about the words we choose. It is also shaped by the way we listen, organise interactions, and create opportunities for others to participate. Throughout this module, we have explored how language, interaction and the environment can either facilitate or limit inclusion. Becoming more aware of these elements helps us create communication that is not only clearer, but also more welcoming and accessible.
Inclusive communication begins with attention: attention to what we say, how we say it, and how others experience our interactions. Small adjustments in our everyday communication can make a meaningful difference in who feels able to participate and contribute.
But is communication only about people and their choices, or do the conditions around us also shape who can take part?
